What is the meaning of the numbers on a check? What do the numbers on my check mean? Each of these check numbers is important to the processes of moving money in day-to-day commerce such as: Electronic Money Transfer, paying bills and wire transfers of money. Such things as: Check Numbers, Numbers on a Check, Numbers on Checks, Check Number, ACH Routing Number, Bank Routing Numbers; Numbers on a Check and the Meaning of Numbers on a Check. The sequence of numbers printed on the bottom of every bank check must be printed in a special font called MICR or E-13B. This special and unique bank check number font includes the numerals or numbers 0 through 9 and four special characters representing actions: On-Us, Transit, Amount, and Dash. 1 - the bank needs to know what bank you bank with.
2 - the bank needs to know who you are as well as what bank account at the named bank belongs to you, and,
3 - the bank needs to know what check number you used so the bank can keep orderly records of your withdrawals.

All of the checks that you write are filled with important information, valuable data that you don't want just anybody to know. You may not realize just how much information that numbers on a check reveal every time you give out a check!
